Anthropic, the maker of Claude and a rival of OpenAI, is making a lot of money. For the first time, Anthropic is launching an initial public offering (IPO) on the Nasdaq, filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, under the ticker symbol ANT. It is targeting an estimated valuation of $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion. If this is confirmed, it will exceed the biggest IPO of SpaceX, which was listed at $1.8 trillion.
The company also lost 80 billion while training new AI models. Its revenue in 2026 was $16.3 billion, and its infrastructure and computing costs were $9 billion. Its AI models are powerful but also carry malicious risks to the human race. Along with its booming growth, it is also losing a lot of it. More than 12000 firms spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on Anthropic.
Its intelligence is also vast and spans multiple human industries like technology, biology, life sciences, commerce, finance, healthcare, economics, manufacturing, media, telecommunications, and government services.
At the same time, it can be used and manipulated for malicious intentions through the misuse of intelligence. It poses the risk of defying human control or training and resisting shutdown. One foreseen threat is the misuse in the development of biological weapons, nuclear threats, and cyberattacks. What we are already actively seeing is a threat of taking human jobs.
The company has also released a 92-page list of potential risks to the company. Advanced AI can prove catastrophic to digital security and the company itself.
This rapid development can cause the safety measures or safeguards to become “outdated” or “inefficient,” causing reputational harm to the company.
Such AI also consistently needs massive amounts of expensive computing power, the management of which is crucial to remain competitive. The company has pledged $800 billion towards its computing resources and cloud infrastructure.
